Valentine's Day candy, love and tears.

Isn't Valentine's Day oh so fun?
Well you know first your children have to make Valentine's Day cards for everyone in their class, even those kids liam really isn't cool wjth. Everyone has to be fair. You know because life is so fair and all

First we had to have Scooby Doo cards. The new greatest thing in our home.
Then a list of twenty two kids unrolls and hell breaks loose.

What's this letter?

Why is ther name so long??
..... It was four letters.

I don't even talk to that kid how can I spell their name?

Can I just right hearts on all of them??

By now tears are streaming down his face soaking into the blank card in front of him.

Who knew Valentine's Day cards were so difficult and emotional??

Seriously drowning in love. Can't even breath surrounded by love.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Lego struggle

The lego struggle is real. At least for me it is. My son is four and a half and really into Legos lately.  I however hate them, for many reasons.
He picked out this army lego the other day in the store. I caved, it was small, how hard could it really be? Right.

This is how it went....

Looking at the bags always gives me that oh shit feeling. There is so many small pieces, way too many steps, and I can never figure out those damn diagrams.
I am already cringing at the process and my anxiety is now shooting through the roof. My eyes pulge as I start shouting; "don't touch anything!" Repeatedly. I get through the first step and just as my confidence starts to build step two confuses me.

Where is the wine?

Steps three and four just pissed me off and chipped my nail polish. I need a break.

I am pretending to poop in the bathroom to avoid this.

Liam has now asked five times if the Legos built, pointing out how small the instruction packet is.

Oh you think so I ask? Let's see you put it together. :-) funny they have nothing to say when you challenge them with the task.

By this point I've realized one of the few needs for a man. Legos, totally a mans job...

I cruise the craiglist "rent a boyfriend" section. Only to discover they don't have one, but totally should!

Now I am trying to figure out how to build this amazing website where you can rent men to do chores that you can't do on your own.  perfect right?

Then I realize...
Oh crap I am still not done with my lego, Liam's now asked 14 times if it's finished. Ugh.

I get through a few steps which seem way to easy. Only to realize at step ten it was because I did them all wrong!

I take it all apart.

I sit and stare cursing Legos in a whisper so my son can't here.

I work endlessly on the steps. Why are these photos so crappy? It's the 2000 this is the best you got?

I hate Legos
I do not like them not one bit.

Finally

 I am done!

However, I can't help but question.. Why did this take 33 steps to build this dinky you? How long before my son breaks it and I can't fix it? Why Legos why?!?

Goodbyes, love and monogamy

Goodbye is some times inevitable.

Often you out grow people, and that's okay. Regardless, goodbyes have always been hard for me. It can be the eight year long friendship with a gal pal, that long distance relationship with a partner, that person you've just remained by their side bc you can't let go or hurt them.

Whatever it is, goodbyes just aren't the easiest thing for me. They seem so forever, someone always gets crushed, and all too often hurtful words are spewed.

But isn't "forever" how it's suppose to be in those situations?  Our ex's suppose to remain friends? Can you really start fresh dragging that baggage with you? While I am cordial with my past relationship partners, being friends just never seems to work in that area, at least not for me.

Nonetheless those forever goodbyes  hurt; weather it's for the best, by your doing or theirs, it's never easy and there is never a right time.

Letting go of friendships bc you've outgrown each other hurts a little less than ending that four year relationship  with your partner and what some will say is the love of their life. How many "loves of our life" do we really get? Are we as humans too fucked up to be in one "love of our life" relationships in our lifetime? Are we so unattainable that we must keep searching for the next best thing, even when we have the best thing in this moment right beside us?
I feel like by thirty most of my generation has triple digit sex partners, no sense of self respect, no courting skills, and no true meaning of what love or even unconditional even mean. It grosses me out, to the point that I am content being single the rest of my life.

I am by no means perfect. I know for sure I've told a boy I've loved him, when I did not. I've carried on relationships when I knew in my heart they would only be short term. Is that wrong? I was never unfaithful, weren't they learning tools? I look at the dating pool around me and it makes me question a lot.

It's like we've become incapable of long term love, honesty, and most importantly monogamy. We care so much about getting our rocks off in a moment of "look there is someone attractive" that we are willing to devastate someone whose stood by our side; held our hands when loved ones have been passed, had children with, birthdays, bad times and good. We've become a society lacking in morals and incapable of loving.

In friendships there must be a faithfulness and loyalty as well, and while I certainly don't mean "not sleeping with other people". I do however mean: "don't screw my husband!"  Yes, while in headrosexual relationships  it's become almost impossible for one of the partners not to cheat, it has has also devastatingly enough become: "your my best friend in the whole world, oh my gosh I love you," turning your head to find the, "well I am sleeping with your man in your bed hoe" friendships.
It's sad ; as a society we are more about getting our rocks off in that second than our own moral compass, respect for others we care about, and our own dignity. It's sad :-/

If you leave....

If you're going to leave my life,
at least close the door behind you.
Because the cold winds still rush through the door and linger around my home
Leaving an eerie chill
That just reminds me of you
And of course I get curious So from time to time
I follow the footsteps
You left behind
And each time I see you
You seem perfectly fine. ✌️

I love this quote. From time to time I just happen to run across it while surfing the web. Just some thought for your heart and mind. Enjoy and have a beautiful day.

Halloween! DIY goodie treats

Happy halloween! 👻

I made a quick trip to Target and picked up some goodies, sweet treats, and such.

In between michaels craft store and Target they fulfilled all my halloween needs.

I wanted to come up with something sweet for the teachers at Liam's school, I also wanted to satisfy all the little kiddies too! They can't have chocolate or nuts so I settled with some: skittles, fruit snacks and some gooey candies.
I thought they came out super cute. I grabbed some halloween themed clear bags at Target and made some
Personalized tags at home and printed out on card stock.

For the teachers I wanted to do something a little different....

I got some good candies, the Reese, Hersey bars, and Kitkats. We know adults aren't into the junk! Got to make those calories count!
I picked up some bucket lateens at Michaels craft (70% off so it was a great deal) got a gormet chocolate chip cookie, stuff with tons of other great sweet treats. A few plastic bugs and spiders and it came together just sweet.

I used some cute halloween clothes pins I found at Michaels and also were on sale.

We are halloween ready in this house!! Liam reminded me that I missed a few people at his school; lunch lady, and the helpers. So I picked up a few little goodie boxes and stuffed some sweet treats in there. Don't want to leave anyone out.

The Chinese box I used to stick some sweeties for my little boy in. He's been struggling to convince me to let him open it already. Silly boy.

Hopes this inspires your craft side to get spooky. Think about it you get to munch on candy while you put things together.

Enjoy and have a safe and happy halloween!

It's Fall!

It's fall and the leaves are falling quickly here in chicago. I am not ready to see winter come.
Painted some pumpkins for Halloween!

Liam had a blast. I felt it was more age appropriate too

I joined in the fun also.

Liam was so empressed with mine, however I thought it could have been better.

We enjoyed them for a week or two then this happened....

Yes that's a squirrel eating our pumpkins.

Which lead to this...

Happy halloween!

I ordered the green paper bags off ebay fairly cheap. The mask I printed and cutout.
Enjoy....

Packed and ready to go, I purchased ninja turtle color packs from the floor section of target, ninja turtle mask I made from buyouts off the Internet and ninja turtle fruit roll up the kids loved them.

Happy fourth birthday to this handsome boy of mine!

Recycle Facility Tour Boys Dream Come True

We are lucky enough to know someone who gave us a VIP tour of a recycle facility in Orlando, Florida. My son was ecstatic for this trip. Most kids want Disney, my boy wants garbage and recycle fun.
We learned so much that day. Who knew recycling and sorting was so complex. I thought it was interesting that Netflix ads had to be separated because of the red dye in the paper. They can't be with other white paper, even paper with font.
We were able to see in the mechanics shop and look into the engine of a truck. This was truly a dream come true.
Here is a few pictures from our family trip to the recycling center, enjoy!
Look at all those netflix flyers. That's insane.
Even liam couldn't believe all the paper, and how they sorted them.

Dr. Seuss Fourth Birthday Party

We decided to have Liam's fourth birthday in sunshine florida, however it rained all morning before the party. I pulled most of my hair out, my even have cried a few times, regardless the party turned out perfect! Big shout out to my mom, Kathy for all of her help and amazing ideas, most of all allowing me to boss her around for a week
Pinata was a success the kids loved it.

I just had cupcakes made at publix and made our own toppers

My mom made this amazing photo prop. Hand painted and perfect!
The window covers came out fabulos! Hand painted and a huge hit. The kids and parents loved them!

Thank you to everyone who came out and made Liam's birthday a success.

These second hand dr Seuss books were enjoyed by all :-)

There's those delicious cupcakes again. Yummy.

Our matching shirts were cute. Curtesy of etsy :)

Most decorations were handmade. Enjoy and have fun planning your next party.

Just Another Garbage Truck Birthday Party! (3 years old)

Wow, time flies when you are having fun. Liam's third birthday turned out to be a success this year! I decided not to have a big party this year, but instead I did something special at his school. I put together these amazing goodie garbage cans. Take a look, tell me what you think....

I thought these little goodies garbage cans came out fabulous! The kids at school really loved them! Inside was a lollipop, a recycle theme stamp and sticker, smarties, I made custom garbage truck sticker that said "Liam's 3rd Birthday" and a little truck.
I purchased most of these items from, Oriental Trading
I think its a great website to buy random party goodies in bulk from. Check them out for any event.

I made most of them toppers and paper products from an image I found on the Internet, and a sticker machine. Greatest thing ever! Get one!
I hope you find some great items! Hope you make your party a success! Good luck! Hope you enjoyed my goodie cans.

Garbage truck addiction/ Christmas Shopping

My son, Liam is completely addicted on every level to garbage trucks, garbage men, and trash cans. It doesn't matter... real, toys, cheesy 80's movies, books. He loves it all. I find a hard time finding new toys to buy him. Every time a holiday rolls around that's the first thing he ask for is, Garbage Trucks! I had found it difficult to find new things to buy him, because he owns most of them. Christmas is just a 26 short days away!

Here are a few exciting gifts I have found:

This garbage truck pillow is adorable! Such a great price too!

I also found this cute little green dumpster.
I also got him this really cool jack hammer, I really hope I don't regret this decision!

This green garbage truck is really cool, made by Fast Lane.

I also think Bruder's toys makes some amazing garbage trucks, but they are pricey. Well made and large toys. They also have an amazing collection of tractors and other vehicle toys.
Good luck shopping. Share come neat gifts, or awesome sales you have stumbled across with me...

Garbage truck costume! It's halloween

I asked Liam what he wanted to be for halloween and he said a garbage man. This really came with a problem. I knew this would be his answer, or at least something along those lines but it was difficult. There is not garbage man or garbage truck costumes. So do it yourself was in full effect. I came across a few different sites that offered suggestions. But he here is my take on a garbage truck costume. All you need is a moving box, spray paint, a smaller box. Construction paper, print outs from the internet, aluminum foil, some ribbon for straps, and you are set!

Liam received so many compliments on this costume while we were out trick or treating.
